What’s your ideal Saturday morning? Are you doing those things this morning? Why not?

Saturday morning imageSaturdays are my favorite day of the week. I’m usually up a good hour or more before my hubby and son. The coffee pot was set on timer before bed and the smell of the fresh roasted brew, a combination of Columbian and Carmel Drizzle, drives me to the kitchen while the laptop is booting up.

With coffee and a couple chocolate chip cookies in hand, I settle myself in my Edith Bunker chair and pull the Tablemate with the computer over my lap. I read over my daily journal entries for the week for highlights, and type up my Saturday Morning Kitchen Khronicle journal for the week. Often I’ll pull up the Pandora site for some soft music to listen to. So it’s just me cocooned in my own little world for an hour or so.

When his lordship finally stirs, he grabs his coffee and settles in his Archie chair on the other side of the lamp table. If I’m still working he’ll read the paper, if not, we’ll talk. We catch up on the last week and figure out what’s on the agenda for the next.

Sometime around then our son will come lumbering upstairs to get ready to leave for work. We’ll have breakfast, then get on with our day. Housework, laundry, errands…

Saturday nights are laid back. You’ll probably find us at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We’ve been going there so long we’re on a first-name basis with everyone. Could probably put on an apron and go to work! In fact, when they put a Facebook page up featuring the restaurant and their customers, we were the first family they interviewed.

But that’s not how it is this morning. My son is still in bed hacking his guts out. His lordship has been wandering the whole night with a hurt foot and is soon off to an education committee meeting at church. And me, I’ve got several weeks of journal entries to catch up on because I’ve been so addicted to Blogging 101 and Writing 201! Looks like I’ll have plenty of time to rectify that this morning…
