Click over to your favorite blog, and pick out the 4th and 14th words (that aren’t “the” or “an”). Drop them into this phrase:

“_MY__ is the new __IT__.”

There’s your post title. Now write!

I bopped over to Plato’s Groove and he only had one written line for the day! The fourth word was My, the fourteenth was It. So here goes…

Have you ever noticed how people get hung up on buzz words? They use them in resumes knowing computer programs will pick them out and keep the resume active. Or in a crowd they deliberately drop them in conversation so people will know how savvy they are, how well connected.

In this day and age, I think MY is the new IT word. We live in a time where self-centeredness seems to be the most popular game in town. MY is the new buzz word. MY house. MY job. MY car. MY money. MY girl/boy friend. My interests. MY benefits, MY toys. MY, MY, MY, MY, MY! We live in a culture preoccupied with MY. We want everything to be about us. We want to be the center of everyone else’s world.

It makes me wonder if that’s why people are becoming so lonely and depressed these days. They have bought into the MY philosophy so much that they’ve alienated the people around them. MY may very well be one of the new IT words, but it’s only in becoming WE that purpose can be found for our lives. So go find yourself some WE’S this weekend and find out how it feels to be part of the human race!
