It’s that time of the week again! It’s Fimnora Westcaw’s Monday Music Medicine Show. Her challenge for today is: What songs get stuck in your head, and won’t leave you alone? (The one she posted took one time through for it to “earworm” it’s way into mine! Go have a listen!)

There’s one song that I can Name That Tune in two notes. I’ve used it on here before. I love it, and find myself humming it frequently when I’m distracted.

My stuck-in-my-head song is Stand By Me. I think I’ve posted it on here two or three times and probably by a different artist every time. “Stand By Me“, the movie, was released on August 8, 1986. According to Wikipedia there have been over 400 recorded versions of the song.

Well it just happened that I was over on Opher’s World the other day reading his post Rock Music – Merseybeat – An extract from my book ‘Rock Routes’. GREAT post! If you loved the British Invasion, you’ll love this post. It reminded me of one of my favorite songs of the 60’s by one of my favorite groups. That song I’ll save for another time, but as I looked for a video for it, I stumbled on their version of my sticky song.

So here it is, Stand By Me by The Searchers…
