i always find stunning
autumn leaves a distraction,
keep pressing them in books
thinking to hold onto the vision
of the glorious rally of autumn
before the pale death of winter;
but they always seem to fade
I guess some things are meant
to be only momentary pleasures
to make us stop —
“and learn to live in the moment

Not one for reading much at mo, but this came up from the ‘random dig’ option – can’t quite believe how slowed I’ve been lately. hopefully i’ll get my dynamo back up to speed and get back to blogging better soon enough. i’ve not forgotten the Sandbox challenge but just a bit energy-deprived and was usually prioritising my BW contributions over my own stuff then running out of steam quite unexpectedly. Well, the weather over here still seems in autumnal mode between occasional sharp frosts and winter seems delayed or maybe it’ll be one of those years without a real winter. Hope all is well in your part of the world. Best wishes 🙂

I hear you about the whole lack of energy thing, hon. I think this year has been very draining for a lot of us. You need to take care of yourself and do what you have to do to get your mojo runnin’ again. The Sandbox will always be here when you get around to it. ❤

How true… some things are just for the moment. But at least there one of those moments once a year. 🙂 Beautiful post, and the pic is gorgeous!
The music was surprisingly dreamy. I had not heard Eric do such an old classic. Was a very pleasant listening, which has been added to my playlist. 🙂

YES, @ the surprise, but I have noticed that our elder rockers are turning more toward the old standards and ballads as they’ve mellowed. It works for me since, well, I’ve grown too. 😀

I know what you mean. I LOVE Willie Nelson’s album “Stardust.” He does a great many old ballads on his albums. Those are the songs I was raised on.

GAWD! Those are stunning autumn leaves. If I were going to miss anything from a land with four seasons, I’d miss autumn. I remember autumn in the Rocky Mountains…all the yellow aspen trees, and the evergreens still green.

I haven’t lived in the US for 15 years. But I’ve been home a few times for a couple months during summer. I didn’t like the price of gas.

It’s not “home” any longer. Until I find a good spot somewhere, maybe Alaska.

Check this link out. There’s a corporate tab on the side. Might be useful for getting in touch with them. You serious?

I’ve been pressing leaves too. I want to keep them as long as I can. This autumn has been wonderful.

Why is it, do you reckon, people are drawn to pressing leaves? A friend of mine from Canada had to go to Germany for a business trip and brought me back a beautiful hand-made journal with the cover made out of leaves. Can’t bear to write in it…

You must. An empty page is a calling. It needs to be written upon. Imagine if all of our books were nothing more than a collection of empty pages. Write! Or send it to me!!

I love the poem, and the Eric Clapton number. He has a history which resonated with my children’s issues…

I don’t know anything about him at all. But I LOVED his version of this song because it sounded just like my dad’s band. Made me a little teary when I listened to it.

Your dad was in a band? Do you have any recordings?

We have some tapes. He always had a band. I’ve written about him on here (https://promptlings.wordpress.com/2015/02/14/the-stardusty-ballroom-part-1/) and (https://promptlings.wordpress.com/2015/02/14/the-stardusty-ballroom-part-2/). The man was born pickin’. Even had his own TV show in Arizona for a couple years.
