ignoreThis poem was such a delight I had to reblog it! Beautifully done, Laura!

Let it come from the heart

The words move from the back
Of his throat
Onto his tongue
And cross his lips
To travel
Through the space between them
And enter her ear,
Passing through
From one side of her skull to the other
Her mind abandoning them
Even before
She can make sense of them;
She does not listen
Nor pretend to
And it drives him
Utterly insane
To know that
Nothing he says
Is important enough
For her to pay attention to;
And when it is his turn,
And he is the listener
They swap places
Like some party game;
He has forgotten
Which one of them
Began to ignore the other first.
Perhaps that is why
They choose to
Stay together
Ignoring one another
‘Til death do them part.
