I finally figured out how to get The Daily Prompt sent to my email! Yay me! Mostly they don’t interest me, but this one I liked so I’ll give it a shot.

DAILY PROMPT: Generous Genies
Remember those lovely genies who grant wishes? Well, you’re one and you’ve just been emancipated from your restrictive lamp. You can give your three wishes to whomever you want. Who do you give your three wishes to, and why?
* * * * *
Since The Daily Prompt lives in a land where the rules change if you want them to, I’m doing just that today.
If I were an escaping genie and was able to make off with three wishes, I’d give them to three DIFFERENT people and tell them to think VERY carefully before deciding what they want because they only get ONE shot at this. So who would I give them to?
My first wish would go to my sister, Cindy, whose husband, Greg is now almost completely paralyzed from the lung cancer treatments he’s been going through for three years. They have some BIG decisions ahead of them about his on-going care. They could use all the help they can get.
The second wish would be for my son Bran. He lived such a charmed life while he was growing up. A+ student in school, two college degrees, etc., etc. Then he met his wife on line and his life fell apart. He’s at a crossroads now, embarking on a divorce after a 5-year separation, and he needs to make some decisions about what direction his life will go in.
The third wish would go to Drollery. All his life he’s built up such huge expectations around everything he tries to do and he always ends up disappointed. I have no clue what he would do with this gift, but I’d give it to him just the same.
THEN I would take myself off to spend an extended vacation in a little cottage by the sea where all my friends would be welcome to come and stay as long as they like. We would take long walks on he beach and NEVER run out of things to say! 😀
Oh wait!!! I forgot to save a wish for me to BUY that little cottage. Oh well. We’d pitch a tent. LOL

I always wondered if you could wish for unlimited wishes. Maybe as we all evolve we will be able to do that naturally. In the meantime, I like what Fim said about the fine print. You get the cabin. 🙂
Happy everything,
Mary

Oh, you know how they are at the big corporate headquarters. There’s probably a caveat somewhere there in the fine print! 😛 But I’ll take the cabin till they evict me!!! 😀

I’m glad you shared those wishes between three people. It would have been impractical to give them all to one person when all of them could do with a little something.
As for you not saving one of the wishes, tents can be very comfortable…

You’re so close to nature in a tent – although I admit I prefer pitching them in woodland, just for you I would make an exception and camp on the beach. 🙂

I couldn’t stop them if I tried – to tell the truth, I think they’re a bit fed up of living in town.
(Sorry, what was that you said?
Ok, I’ll ask Calen how she feels about the idea.)
One of the younger fairies was wondering – how would you feel about staying on a boat instead of a tent?

Ok. we’ll build a tiny boat nearby for the fairies, and they can teach you to fly instead… 🙂

Great post! Oh that the simple writing about it could make it happen. I wish them all the ability to know that they’ve been granted these, and to understand their personal ability to do something about their challenges.
AND, I just read the fine print, and it says that, the genie, having given the three wishes, is automatically granted one of their own. So, Cottage by the Sea is waiting for thee. 🙂
