Lent Photo-A-Day (February 10 – March 27, 2016)

Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day, and the word for today is Human.

When I think of human I think of vulnerability. When we’re born we’re at the mercy of everyone and everything. For most of us we’re blessed to have parents or caregivers who fed and sheltered us and watched over us as we grew into self-sufficient adults.

When I consider human in the light of faith, I remember that’s the way Jesus chose to come into the world — as a little baby. Why? So he could totally empathize with those he came to serve in all their vulnerability and frailties.

That’s important because it says to me he knows exactly what I’m feeling when I’m up, down, or in between. Even if I don’t have words to express what’s going through my heart and mind, he gets it.

The main thing in life is
not to be afraid of being human.
