So Ms. Fimnora Westcaw is at it again! For today’s Monday Music Medicine Show she asks:
So my beautiful Monday Music Medicine Show friends, if it pleases you to play, share with us: What music fits your day, today?
Unfortunately I’ve been having one of THOSE days already and it’s only 9:59. (Too much sugar yesterday I expect…) But in reading and commenting on Catherine’s blog at Atypical 60, I was reminded of a YouTube video that never fails to lift my spirits because it shows what you can do if you put your mind to it.
This young man went on to win Britain’s talent contest that year and become a phenomenon in the operatic music industry. His name is Paul Potts and this audition video of his from Britain’s Got Talent never fails to inspire me and leave me a bit teary. He had gone to opera school in Venice but when he would have to sing for the instructors there he always froze up. They eventually discouraged him from even trying.
I posted it on Catherine’s blog so I’ve watched it several times this morning. 🙂 Though it’s only a part of the song, Nessun Dorma, I figure it works for Fim’s challenge ’cause I can’t get it out of my head now! And I do have a recording of the full piece. I think I’ll go stick it on. And I’m not even and OPERA fan!

Calensariel, don’t you just love it when you’re blown away by someone’s ability to sing as magnificent as this guy? I’m not an opera fan, either, but I do enjoy the music. Feel free to hop over to visit & link with Mewsic Moves Me!

Thanks, Cathy! I’ll check it out. I dislike opera, but I actually got pretty teary when I heard him. His personal story is pretty cool. It’s been made into a movie called “One Chance.” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1196956/

Amazing! And it was the perfect song to lift you up out of the duldrums. Hope you feel better!

He and Susan Boyle both make me happy. I don’t like reality TV generally, except for the Amazing Race, but stories like these make it seem worth it.

I love Susan Boyle, too. Have a couple of her cd’s. There’s a movie of Paul Pott’s life story. I’ve seen it. It’s very good. I’d love to buy it but I can’t seem to find it in a format that will play in the US. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1196956/
