i bet you didn’t know
you made me feel
like Ten Horse Woman*
when you followed the song
of my dragonfly
to my teepee,
or that the pounding
of those 40 hooves
birthed the hum of hope
in my heart
nor that the confusion
of female voices
that gathered round
the well of my soul
at morningtide
would grow hushed in awe
as i came near,
a smile playing softly
in my eyes.
and
i bet you didn’t know
that i didn’t know
what it felt like
to be worth ten horses

Most nicely done, Ten Horse Woman:). New depth or at least expression is being revealed

Well, you always say some kind of creativity comes out when a person’s uncomfortable or in pain. 🙂 Thank you. 😉

Thank you, my dear! I enjoyed playing with this one. I don’t usually enjoy trying my hand at poetry.

Well, that makes it a unique legend, so it IS real ! I haven’t got to read it yet, it’s open in another tab. I’m playing catch up now I’ve got my laptop back 🙂

Well, when you get your wild horse refuge, you’ll have to raise a herd of dragonflies, too! 😀

What~! Only 10 horses…no goat? 🙂

Ah, but you see goats were not nearly as valuable to the Indians as horses. 🙂

Indians didn’t have horses

The plains Indians had horses as early as 1540 when the Spaniards DeSoto and Coronado brought them from Spain. This story would have been in the 1700’s or later. 🙂

What a beautiful analogy. Not sure what it feels like to feel like “40 hooves” but it sure sounds invigorating.

As long as they’re not running over the top of me! LOL It’s referring to something I wrote a while back that I forgot to reference. Glad you posted when you did. I added it. Here’s the link: https://promptlings.wordpress.com/2015/04/02/the-tale-of-ten-horse-woman-complete-with-ending/
