Since I’m in a whimsical mood today, and people keep asking me who Percy is, let me introduce him to you!
Percy is a hand puppet. I fell in love with him months and months ago at the Barnes & Noble bookstore. Every time we were there, the first thing I’d do was go to see if someone had finally taken Percy home. (No, his name wasn’t Percy. It was just Pack Rat. I thought that was so rude!) There he sat, month after month, not getting any love from anyone, and my heart just broke. So when Drollery was looking for something to buy me for Christmas the first thing that came to mind was Percy!. 😀 ❤
Drollery thought I was nuts. But I loved that little guy and knew he’d be a great traveling companion on my journey. He even had his knapsack on already.. 😀 And Bran, knowing of my continuing love affair with this little critter, just rolled his eyes when I opened Percy’s box Christmas morning.
We’re all kids inside SOMEWHERE, are we not? At least Plato has been trying to convince me of that. LOL We all need toys!
So I ask you, my friends, what was the last toy you bought yourself or someone else bought for you? THIS inquiring mind wants to know??? Are you brave enough to ADMIT you like toys? 😀

Well, of course, though not the last, Cappie is definitely a very beloved toy! I actually bought Tess – Cappie’s Alpaca wife, a year later… (how do you put photos into comments?)… She’s a beauty! But then there was the Android Tablet I bought to keep on playing My Singing Monsters, and have added a ton of other games: MSM Dawn of Fire, Paradise Bay, Fishdom, Toy Blast, Word Trek, Clue Bingo. And that doesn’t count some others waiting in the wings. Now granted, all the games are FREE, but still, it is considered a purchase on the device.
We’re also looking at a VR headset! That will be for Q’s birthday. 😀

It’s a virtual reality headset, where you can put it on, and BE – so to speak – in places you’ve never gone before. Once it was just I movies, but now it’s real virtual lol

My house is FULL of toys! Last Christmas Star Ways toys invaded our home big time. We have a 2ft Darth Vader robot, remote controlled, one of those small round new ones that zips around all over the place. Then there was the Lego space craft one of the kids gave TRH. Took him 2 full days to make it. I got a little Yoda soft toy… I have a collection of teddy bears TRH has bought me over the years, the last one this Valentine’s day. The last thing I bought myself was a little minion two weeks ago – they were going out for 50c. Just a big kid at heart. Gotta let the Inner Child out to play – Plato is right ! I think I’ll have to do a post with photos 🙂

I bought myself an adult coloring book. Supposed to reduce stress and anxiety. Ha!! Not for this over active and busy mind!

I know what you mean. Even in my regular coloring book I get stressed if I color outside the lines. LOL And it’s just ballerinas…

Me, too! The boys love them. We buy the BIG hoopy things when they come to visit. Now this year we’ll have Lydia and she’s just going to turn 1. That will be fun.

I bought a kids zentangle book. My daughter loves zentangle, but she can handle the grown up versions. This one was mostly for me, because the kids version is my speed.

My dentist’s receptionist just gave me a similar book. (I didn’t have the heart to tell her I already had my own Ballerina coloring book at home. LOL)

I bought a small microscope. It was ostensibly for my 12-yo son, but really it was for me!

Did you feel like you couldn’t buy it for yourself, Karen? I’m just wondering if we feel like we’re not allowed to play when we get older.

Yeah, I did feel like it was mildly inappropriate for me to buy myself a toy. Kids today don’t seem to play with toys as much as I did as a kid. Too much technology.

Well, maybe it’s about time we reminded them HOW to play? I bought some sidewalk chalk today as my grandkiddos are coming in August and I wanted them to have something to write all over the driveway with! 😀

I colour. Colouring books. I have a gazillion gel pens, and currently working my way through The Big Book of Swear Words. I find the most foul word and colour it with glitter gel pens while I giggle away by myself.

I don’t buy toys. The last toy like thing I bought was a Starbucks Bear. I did get a free toy from work, a little blue wind up robot.

There is nothing wrong with liking toys. Many adults cherish the toys of their childhood, many collect toys until the days they die. Dolls, trains, cars. My husband just came home from a business trip to Florida and there is Mickey sitting now on my desk, right beside Shrek.
Don’t ever let anybody tell you that you can’t love your toys.

Grin. I KNEW you’d have toys! 😀 I think I’ve gotten too practical and frugal in my old age. Do books count as toys? That’s my TRUE addiction. I mean the REAL kind with covers and pages and ink…

Why wouldn’t I have toys? A proverb says, “When we no longer play with toys, we have begun to die.”
Books are your passion, not your toys. No go out and find your rat friend a companion 🙂

My last toy was a grey teddy bear with a beret on his head and a T-shirt saying ‘Aged to Perfection’. My wife bought it for me on my birthday. It’s sitting in my room overlooking everything I do!

I like toys! The last toy I bought for myself was one that I bought for the whole family: a toy Hogwarts Express train, complete with track, that runs around our Christmas tree. My dad used to set up his old toy train set for us at Christmas; and we all love Harry Potter; so I grabbed one of these before they became collector’s items. It makes me very happy!

“It makes me very happy!” That’s the magic right there, isn’t it! You know the toy is right for you if you can’t help smiling when you see it. It’s kind of like Frank Capra said about movies after he made “It’s A Wonderful Life.” He said, the movies we love best are the ones that always make us feel like we’re seeing it again for the first time. I thought that was an awesome comment.
The retreat house where we’d have our women’s retreat was run by Sister Danielle. Every year when I’d turn up to get things rolling she’d have to show me this dancing flower someone had given her. (It was one of the Secret Service guys that were housed at the retreat house during the Olympics. She looked like a dwarf next to this big dude!) It danced to the tune of Glenn Miller’s “In the Mood.” She would laugh and laugh as she watched it. It was one of the most precious things about her. Sadly she passed away this year.
