Thank you my dear! How’s that house coming? Have they broke ground for it yet?

No. Not yet. We’re still negotiating the contract but it does look like we are much closer to settlement on the land. Exciting times.

Would you feel the word limit would hem you in?

Yes. I don’t like to follow rules. Know what I mean? I need to let the poem pen itself.

Well, when one is as full of “majick” as you are, you might well implode if you tried to hold it all in! 😀

That’s just beautiful – I think the word ‘stripped’ is perfect.

Feels like that sometimes, doesn’t it? You don’t give up the wishes voluntarily. Life strips them from you… I expect you’re well acquainted with that, dear heart.

Exactly. The poem resonated with me. Every word was perfect. Rarely have I read a haiku which has pierced me as this one did.

You made me wonder what the ratio is of what I give up voluntarily to what I feel has been stripped from me over the years… Going to have to ponder that, though I figure I’ve given up a LOT more voluntarily… 🙂

It may be how you feel but you are a powerful seed giving life to the universe, a germ of life so strong it will germinate into glowing stars of life more majestic than we could ever imagine. From such frailty comes strength. We give rise to dreams that become the future.

Thank you, that’s lovely, Opher. Sometimes I just feel like the bare stem… You’ve been feeling a bit like that lately, too, I know. Perhaps there’s something going around?

Nice Opher. I had a similer thought looking at the photo. That each wish, once cast upon the breeze, would be sown by powers beyond the wisher’s control and in a much broader space that they could have imagined. And each would produce a hundredfold. Our Lady Calen is much like that in freely surrendering seeds and wishes of grace freely to us all. She grows even now in places known and unknown all over the planet.

Opher sees the world through a different lens. But he’s very gracious to listen and let us expound to our hearts’ content. 🙂

I think we probably agree on more than not at the heart level. Words at best are metaphors anyway. I like that we don’t get hung up on illusory things like words and look into each other’s soul.

Lovely. But I would want to changed “stripped” to something else. Don’t know what. Stripped works for “frail.” So maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I just want it to be more positive, but it’s not meant to be more positive. So fine, stripped. Besides it might be too difficult to find another one-syllable word to keep the haiku intact, eh?

Hm… Actually I’d say it was almost a violent feeling when I choose the word. Life has a way of stripping parts of us away as we lose friends in our life. I just lost a 93-year-old friend. And her death had me thinking a lot about how Drollery and I on the OTHER side of the hill now. Perhaps it was the “rolling down” that stripped my wishes? You, however, my wanderlustful friend, are an eternal optimist, I’m assuming? At least I haven’t seen a different side of you yet! 😉

Ah…well, then, “stripped” is the perfect word. And so sorry for your loss and what you lost perhaps of yourself. The other side of the hill can be pretty cool, too. I think I am more an optimist than anything, but I can tumble downhill with the best of them when I get on a roll. I can also curse pretty good when I do. What’s up with Fim, she still alive?

Fim… Combination of electronics difficulties and felt like she needed a break for the summer. Wanted to be outside. She’s fine, though. I talk to her a couple times a week. We are SO bloomin’ gabby! 2-3 hour conversations! LOL She’ll be back come fall. She was asking about you, too, on Friday when we talked. You must have gotten each other’s vibes. 😀

Thanks, Raili. You gals have been inspiring me to try to write more poetry. (And I use the term poetry loosely — except for haiku. I like them. 😀 )
