In last week’s Sandbox Writing Challenge we tackled the question, “What have you struggled to change in your own life?” Now that you have one or two or twenty of those things firmly in your mind, take a minute and feel as frustrated and discouraged about them as you can… (No, seriously!)
Are you feeling bummed out yet? Do you feel like you just can’t accept yourself the way you are without fixing all that “stuff?” Well that leads us to our next prompt for this week…
`
What does acceptance feel like? How does it differ from resignation or passivity?
`
Here’s a little help from vocabulary.com:
passivity: Passivity is allowing others to do things to you without complaining or pushing back.
`
resignation: Resignation can mean either stepping down from a job or accepting an unpleasant but inevitable situation.
So how do you think acceptance differs from these two attitudes?
As always, remember to include the link to this post on YOUR blog post. Or if your response isn’t overly long, feel free to leave it in the comment section below. And please feel free to interpret the prompt however you wish: memoirs, poems, pictures, etc.
I look forward to hearing what you have to say about this!

I am really having a rough time wrapping my brain around this one. This is a deep subject, and if you have seen more than one of my own writings I don’t write anything lightly. 😄

Hey there, friend. I’m sorry I lost track of your posts. You’re such a prolific writer I was having trouble keeping up and finding your responses to the challenges. It’s good to see you here again!

Hi again!! Wow! Prolific writer? That is an amazing compliment! Thank you. I still haven’t figured out to copy the link from the writing prompts to my post while writing from my phone. It’s sad, I don’t have access to an actual computer.

I don’t know how ANYONE manages to do posts on their phone! I can’t even do them on my tablet!

In response to this sandbox challenge, it’s a difficult one. I believe Acceptance differs because you don’t complain or be passive (which seems downtrodden). An example would be my husband snoring. I’m past it now and know he can’t help, so it’s acceptance. Or maybe that would be resignation because I do occasionally complain. Oh dear, maybe I’m not an ‘accepting’ sort of person!

Actually that’s a very good point. I’m going to have to look up what the difference is.

Oh yay!!! I’m so glad you got it ok. They’re really fun. I guess I just never grew up. It’s fun to make the snowflakes and wreaths and decorate the tree. 😀

I don’t feel sad about who I am, or about my flaws. I hope I’m working on them and always will.
