———————————————————sunrise
stems strain,
pushing thru hard-packed dirt
toward life-giving warmth
face turns towards sun’s rays
streaming through streaked
bedroom window panes
leaves unfold,
open in wide embrace
welcoming new beginnings
arms stretch overhead
easing kinks,
preparing body for new day
death succumbs to birth
as buds burst into bloom
earth blushes contentedly
with new life
depression gives way,
heart smiles as
hope ignites sighs of relief,
renewed possibilities
`
the crucible of winter is done.
To everything there is
a season under heaven.
(Ecclesiastes 3:3)

Oh this is gorgeous – really beautiful. And it has an effortless feel of gentle, lazy (coz still waking up) grace that very much captures for me that energy of ‘death succumbs to birth’. Love it! And hey, recycling 😉 is good for us, good for the planet, so sure…I’m honored and delighted 🙂 Blessings, Harula x

I think it’s a scenario so many of us go through every spring, which is what motivated it at the time. Thanks, Harula. 🙂

Oh how cool.
I did have to restart once I saw what was happening.
i think stuff like this is not only beautiful, but it stimulates the little cells in our brains, encountering something at once familiar, but with a twist.

After 62 years on this planet, I’m still amazed when plants start pushing through the earth at this time of year.
I like how you’ve compared Spring growth to getting up on a Spring morning. This is a lovely, uplifting poem – and the Bible quote is one I’m particularly keen on.

This was a delight! I love the concept of a parallel poem and I’ll need to try one myself one day.

It was interesting and fun. I got the idea during a writing group that I belonged to.

Wonderful Calen, how long did it actually take you to write? You reminded me of my friend whose favourite flower is daffodil as it fills her with the hope of spring.

Actually when I originally wrote it I already had a picture of Spring in my head. It was the cusp of Winter/Spring and not only was nature coming out of hibernation, but so was I. I think I scribbled it one day at Starbucks on my notepad I carry with me. It was very free flowing. It was just the perfect way I feel about Spring. Hope Harula doesn’t mind that I recycled something… ❓

Plants, humans… We are, after all, both creatures of nature. I have a feeling our eco systems mirror each other in similar ways. (That’s probably not correct to say humans have eco systems, is it?)

I would normally sat that humans occupy and are part of eco-systems, but if you consider the fine balance between healthy and unhealthy bacteria and other organisms in our systems then not only do we have eco-systems, but could consider ourselves to BE an eco-system.
