Well THIS was an interesting prompt! Truthfully I wasn’t sure what certain colors meant to me. I had no connection with one of them listed at all and couldn’t come up with anything. Can you guess which? Started by just writing down different lines that came to me about each and realized I was kind of writing in haiku. (rolls eyes…) This was harder than I thought! See if you can guess which color is which. I’ve hidden the title of each, but if you block the space above the haiku you’ll find it.

NaJoWriMo Day 6
The Meaning of Colors
Colors are very much a part of creative expression. For today’s prompt, write about each of the following colors (red, blue, green, yellow, purple, pink, black, and white) and express what each color means to you. Avoid thinking about the stereotypical definition of those colors, and instead think about what the color communicates to you personally. Think about how you use those colors in your personal life.

`
black
sophisticated —
a roaming jungle panther
sleek, sly, treacherous
green
undefeatible
forever optimistic
birth vanquishes death
red
brazen, bold, haughty
a cocky, strutting rooster
craving attention
pink
soft, tender new dawn
blooms slowly, shyly like a
young girl’s first sweet blush
yellow
ladies of the court
dressed in frills and frippery,
the daffodils dance
white
eager blank pages,
an elegant, wedding gown,
tales waiting to start
purple
splendid and serene
high above busy valleys,
mountain majesties

Lovely haikus, Calen, especially

Thank you, my dearie. 😀 That wasn’t near as much fun writing them than when you’re FEELING the poems, you know what I mean?

Very nice. You’ve got several shades of blue in there. I realized blue just leaves me cold, which is so weird to me since I LOVE being by the ocean, BUT not IN it! Might have something to do with blue?

Not so easy. Guess gotta really FEEL them to enjoy them. Not like giving one a subject and saying, write an essay on this… Were the colors hard to guess?

I’ve been MIA a while, work woes, no time to visit and comment (or even write a post). I love writing and reading haikus. These are just great. You did nanowrimo? I did that a few years. But not last year. And never did anything with what I wrote…all those words (mostly crap) just sitting there, naked in a drawer.

LOL… Well, mine aren’t naked. They are printed out and in a binder. Over 300 pages of a pretty decent first-time story waiting to be edited. Made a few newbie mistakes that I’m not sure how to fix. Mostly research issues. Learned a good lesson about that. I just don’t have the energy these days to tackle it… Hope all ended up well with your work. You ok? I haven’t read your last blog yet. Been getting ready for our daughter and company to move back to Utah. Take it easy, Fish. Hugs.
