But I couldn’t hit the hay without posting yesterday’s answer for the April A to Z Challenge! I was surprised at how many folks have mentioned they know this show! In case you don’t, it is…

OML! That gorgeous man always took my breath away! Edward Mulhare was the perfect image of a ship’s captain, the stuff a wanna-be pirate’s dreams were made of.

This man took his name from that of the foremost knight warriors in Charlemagne’s court. A gentlemen “fixer” (in today’s terminology) for hire, he’d get the job done, whatever it was, whether the price was right — or even when it was not, because his client couldn’t afford him! The series aired from 1957 to 1963, 225 episodes. It was one of the few television shows to spawn a successful radio version.
Extra hint: he had a calling card that was the identifying graphic of the show.

I have never heard of The Ghost and Mrs Muir, which is a shame, I mean… there’s a ghost 😉
I don’t think I know the other show, though it sounds like one which woudl go fine with my noir theme 😉

i thought I would be right with this show. I vaguely remember it but love the movie!

I think I must have watched too much of the Magic Roundabout and the Clangers to have seen anything else growing up. I haven’t a clue!

They were children’s programmes that you’d never get anything like now! I had limited TV for a while when in Ireland, only having two Irish channels for a while.

I no longer want to even know what my record is. Ugh! The Ghost in Mrs. Muir? Say what? Some dude who looks like the Most Interesting Man in the World is a ghost and he inhabits some woman’s body and they can’t even give her a decent name and somebody bought the idea of that for a TV show? Oh my.
Would he come out when she was in stress and freak out the people nearby? I can’t even get a grip on this concept. Shudder!
And H? I got nothin’.But I’m likin’ this concept. I’m hoping whatever name gets revealed tomorrow I can find this show on Netflix. C’mon, crossing my fingers…

Had to use my “phone a friend” (more like Hubs on the couch, wielding his iPad) again today. So I feel like I’m cheating if I put a smiley face on here because I didn’t guess it, though I know the answer now. I feel the way I did when I used to take an open book test and got a good grade. How hard is that, right?

I know this one! Since my grandfather loved this show, you’d better believe I saw a few episodes growing up (although not first-run, because I’m not old enough 😛 ).

I know this one. Pretty sure I saw every episode. And this genre is still one of my favorites, though when I was a child I would complain cause my Dad watched every W—- that was on TV.

I loved that show. I cannot remember the name of the female lead, but I really liked them both. I believe they did a remake but it was not at all as good.

Hope Lange! How could I have forgotten. And it wasn’t a remake, it was the earlier 1947 version where Rex Harrison played the Ghost that I didn’t like as much as this version. I just read that Natalie Wood played the little girl. Now I have to watch it again.

You know, I don’t think I ever saw the original movie, Judy. I would like to find the book and read it. I’m wondering now who wrote it…

I found the original movie online. If you Google it you can find it, otherwise I’ll send the link. The book was written by R.A. Dick and I believe there’s a Penguin paperback edition of it. The Gene Tierney, Rex Harrison movie is actually kind of fun, but the sound isn’t great, at least on my computer.

Actually I ordered the book last night! It’s been a long time since I read something like that. I got to wondering if it might be good “research” for the editing of Glencara’s Bane, which I did NOT spend nearly enough time researching! 😀
