My daughter and company have just moved back to Utah and I’ve been shopping for Easter baskets for the four grandkiddos today (7,5,3,18 mos.). OML! It’s been goin’ on 20 years since I’ve done this! I’m WAY out of practice. At any rate, let’s get on with the April A to Z Challenge for today!

Like so many other character actors who get stereotyped, Johnny Weissmuller’s Jungle Jim and Tarzan roles preceded him everywhere he went and he was unable to break out into new genres of series on TV. Too bad. He was a pretty hot dude!.😎

East meets west in this action-adventure show that became one of the most popular TV programs of the 70’s. Just on the fringe of my single-days threshold, who would have known a TV show could bring such enlightenment to American audiences… This show, a real family affair, was proof positive that no matter how laid back you might be, trouble usually has a way of finding you!

He just couldn’t seem to shake that stereotype. He was also an Olympic medalist in swimming. 🙂 But interestingly he didn’t do his own cliff jumps in the series. I guess the studio had too much money invested in him.

I’m pretty sure that I have this one that starred an offspring in a famous acting family. I very rarely watched this show, but my best friend Vernon was a big fan and used to talk about it a lot. If my guess is correct, there was a frequent reference to a hoppy little critter which was a term of endearment from an old man. I think–like I say, I didn’t watch this show more than a few times.

When I was little we used to paint boiled eggs, plant grass seed onto wet cotton wool so it would be green in time for Easter Sunday. Chocolate eggs and egg hunts did not exist in our world 🙂

Oh! You really missed out. I have three special eggs for their baskets. They have dollar bills in them for as old as each kiddo is. The rest of the eggs are filled with candy and one big one has a Matchbox car in it. 😀

Naw. It’s all little junk mostly. Things like card games (Go Fish) and paddle ball. Stuff that breaks two hours after use and You think, why did I waste my money???

I tell ya what, Judy, it’s requiring us to get into a different head space after all these years. Most grandparents are there when the babies are born and through those first years. We missed all the firsts in their lives because they lived clear back in Maryland. We got awfully used to our quiet little life at Wits End Cottage!

That’s a hint? I was thinking more like I could buy a vowel and a couple consonants and you’d do a Vanna White thing and fill in some partial words. Yeah, I’m that desperate at this point!

I know this one! And I even know the movie Amy Harke-Moore is talking about. It sucks that they didn’t want to use the guy who came up with the idea in the first place, but if they had it would have ended a lot sooner than it did. 😛

Yup, I knew Jungle Jim. Jungles are the next best thing to westerns, lol. I think I know the next series, but I was not a fan. I do remember the catchphrase, too. We celebrated my grandson’s birthday tonight. I’ll let his parents buy him an

I totally agree about the westerns and jungles. You know we always made Easter baskets for our kids. It puzzles me as to why our daughter has never done it with her kids. Our son is really into traditional stuff like he did as a kid. Our daughter seems to be bored with it all. Weird. It’s so much fun to see things through the eyes of your kids.

Interestingly I remember seeing an actor’s story portrayed in one of those movie of the week movies (remember those?) and this actor had pitched the idea for this television show to the studio with himself as lead. Obviously they liked the idea but didn’t want this guy. I’d mention the actor I’m talking about, except I think it would totally give a huge clue to the answer.
