This TV series was probably one of the easiest ones to guess. I think everyone who loved westerns watched this one and Rawhide. In case you DIDN’T, it was…

Wagon Train

This series initially starred veteran movie supporting actor Ward Bond as the wagon master, later replaced upon his death by John McIntire, and Robert Horton as the scout, subsequently replaced by Scott Miller and Robert Fuller.

Every week the series told the stories of very ordinary people, from all over the world (not just the Eastern United States), who trekked in Conestoga wagons (pulled by horses or oxen), from the “frontier” to start new lives. At the time, the “frontier” included cities and towns such as Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago, Saint Louis, and Independence (Missouri). Wagon trekkers included individuals, individual families, and groups of families, often representing a particular racial, religious, or ethnic character. Their treks brought them to settle the area from Nebraska to what would become the states of Oregon, Washington, and California. Guest rolls read like a “Who’s Who of Hollywood.”

Living in Utah, steeped in pioneer history as we are here made this show probably my favorite western. But I have to say, I loved Ward Bond (mainly because of It’s A Wonderful Life) and had a really hard time warming up to John McIntire.

This is one I hope you ALL got a chance to watch! Did you figure it out?

We’re at number three in our April A to Z Challenge countdown — the letter X! And I have an admission to make… There isn’t one! Not a TV series anyway that I know of. If YOU can come up with one, PLEASE let me know what it is.

So in the meantime I decided to choose an X movie from that same era. This particular movie was about a doctor who set out to help people and ended up studying “sexuality” (among a lot of other things) up close and personal!!! I’ll admit I’ve seen the movie a couple times, but for a sci-fi flick it didn’t stay with me much. I wonder if it did any of you…

This OUGHT to be an easy one for you to figure out — at least with the help of Google! So what do you think? Do you figure you can…

Um… I mean that X-rated movie!!!

(Btw, if you know the answer, please keep it to yourself so as not to give it away. Stick a smiley face on your comment instead. Thank you so much!)

(Just a quick note. If the title of the show is preceded with the word “The”, it will NOT be included in the name.)
