What gives you light?
`
This may seem like a weird answer, but I’ have to say it’s when people, friends, family find me worth investing their time in. I know that’s a pretty broad definition, but when someone HAS invested their time in you, you KNOW it. You feel it. It energizes you when they look into your eyes and see you for who you are and love you all the same.
That’s hard to do over the internet. A little easier over the phone. Texting is a lazy way to give someone your attention. But I want to say there are so many folks on Word Press that have infused me with light that I am truly blessed! Linda, Fimnora, Ruth, Shannon, Colleen… I could go on and on.
I bet you didn’t know you could be a purveyor of LIGHT, did you! But you can because we’re all wounded and YOU have the ability to help that LIGHT get in and seal up some of those cracks!
I love what the Japanese do with broken things. It’s called kintsugi, or “golden joinery,” which is a method of restoring a broken piece with a lacquer that is mixed with gold, silver, or platinum.
That’s what happens to us — when the LIGHT gets in…
So what do you think? Can you help someone replenish their LIGHT today? Let us know if you do!
`
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in
(Leonard Cohen, Anthem)

Finding the light is what it’s about, after all. 🙂
And I , too, am very honoured to be one of the cracked pots in your life.
You have always been my greatest encourager with my writing and I believe we were supposed to connect at some level during our journeys- it was just a matter of time.

Yes. I feel that way, too. Your writing, Shannon, has encouraged me in ways you’ll never know. Especially with this autoimmune thing. Every time I start to whine about it I think of your experience and am so moved to keep slogging forward. You’re just an inspiration to me. ❤

I don’t see you reaching out as whining- I see it as you looking for support and answers to your questions. You are your own best advocate for your healthcare. Next time you have 10 hours to spare(lol), fall down the rabbit-hole into GMOs and how diet impacts autoimmune disorders. What a ride that is! When I was half-assed diagnosed with Celiac last year, I started investigating possible causes and ways that I could feel better, besides eliminating wheat. I truly believe now that we have been poisoning ourselves for years, without knowing it.
If you can’t pronounce it, don’t put it in your mouth! 🙂

There’s just something about knowing that we’re all in the same boat, isn’t there, Julia? Everyone is wounded, but everyone has the gift of light inside them.. I truly believe that.

Music, Nature, Music, and more music. Did I mention music?
So I was reading this and saw a link to something else on the side of your page, and ended up on two different Neil Diamond posts, one of which asked us to post our favorite lyrics of his, and without a doubt, “I am, I said…” was what came to mine, and on one of those posts, in the comments, sure enough, I had posted that song – thought it was taken down; the nerve…
But I’m detouring here… when I find a new song that gets me right the minute I hear it, that’s light filling me up, even when it’s a song that is sad and makes me cry. It’s still light.
I just found one the other day – I think I told you about it… “Havana” by PENTATONIX.

Yes, I remember. I haven’t gone to find it yet. But I will! And I’ll see if it lights me up!

I’ve loved the Japanese concept of repairing (healing) cracked pots with precious metals since I heard of it! I also love your analogy of bringing in the light to help heal people’s lives!
I’m happy to have discovered your site! Blessings and light! You’re doing wonderful work! 😍
Peace, Tamara

Thank you so much, Tamara. I glad you stopped by. And I agree. I think it’s a fascinating hobby or profession. And I so loved what the picture said about objects having a history. We all have histories, too! We all have such amazing, and sometimes horrendous stories… We just need to learn to listen to them…
