The Sandbox Writing Challenge 2018 — Exercise 27

If you were to give this baby something you
lacked early in life, what would it be?
`
Jane’s answer inspired me! I decided to think outside the box on this one like she did. If I were to give this baby something I lacked early in life (and something that would stay with him/her forever) it would be an innate sense of discernment. Discernment about good and bad people in their lives, choices they might make, and how they can help or be of service to those around them. ❤

That’s brilliant! Discernment is what lies behind common sense. When my mum talked about common sense it seemed to me like an abstract concept, whereas If she’d suggested I should be more discerning it might have got me thinking.

Yes, I guess that might be true!

I wonder whether we actually have the full kit of intuition at birth and we ‘unlearn’ it as we grow up. Or we ‘learn’ not to trust it….cultural norms, rules and regulations, so-called better knowing others who knock it out of us……

That’s a very good question. I think kids are, on the whole, far more intuitive than we give them credit for.

So do I!

I can’t imagine I lacked anything when I was that size. I doubt that baby lacks anything. Money? You kidding; I didn’t need money. As far as I knew I was rich. I still see myself that way.

And that attitude, dear Oneta, is a gift from God! ❤

That was my first thought too, Oneta, that I lacked for nothing as an infant. I was loved by my family and my aunts used to ‘fight’ over who got to hold me I’m told.
