Sometimes the best thing we can do to change our life
is to change our perspective on it.
List ten ways in which you are living a lucky life.
`
(Just out of curiosity I had his nibs do a list for this. I was curious as to how our perspectives might differ. Probably not so much!)
His Nibs:
1. A good job
2. Plenty to eat
3. Shelter
4. A family that loves me
5. A cabin in the mountains
6. Freedom to go and do as I please
7. Adequate medical care
8. Good health
9. Good friends
10. A good education
`
Me:
1. A safe place to come home to
2. His nibs!
3. My life is peopled with 2 great kids,
4 rambunctious grandkids,
1 terrific son-in-law,
extended family,
and many friends
4. Safe drinking water
5. Twitch, our librarian cat (she likes to sit on the book shelves)
6. Access to books, books, and more books!
7. Adequate medical care
8. Financially secure (almost)
9. A working washer and dryer
10. Religious freedom
`
I think I need to post that LUCKY list somewhere and remind myself of it frequently. It just MIGHT change my perspective when I’m hiding in the pity party closet!
YOUR turn! What things in or about your life make you feel lucky?

Your post inspired me to list all that I am grateful for in this life. Only problem is I ran out of fingers and was wearing shoes! :0

LOL! I have tried so often to keep a “gratefulness” journal and I always give up after a few days as I end up putting the same thing down day after day. I guess that’s what happens when you’re stuck at home a lot and one day just blurs into the next! (rolls eyes)

I smiled when I read your reply, Margaret. It reminded me of the song from Disney’s Jungle Book, The Bare Necessities! 😀

You certainly have kept that smile, Ivor! You’re an inspiration to everyone who reads your poetry. How long would you and Carole have been married this year?

It would be our 44th this year… we had 7 incredible years, then 30 years of her with MS, and it’s 7 years since Carole passed…..

Yes, Oneta. I sometimes think being content with what you have is one of the most important things in life. “Contentment is not the fulfillment of all your wants, but the realization of how much you already have.” I’ve done a cross stitch with that on it years ago. It hangs right as you come in our front door.

Nice look on life. It beats being on the hamster’s wheel and never having enough.

I’d say we sure have more than enough. You should see what we hauled out of here to take to the church rummage sale this weekend! Although I regretted letting go of two of my favorite — ok, don’t laugh — “toys.” So I went back in and retrieved my long-eared bunny and my Rainbow Brite doll! (Blush)
