Question 1
What do you love about starting something new?
`
Everything is fresh and clean as I haven’t screwed anything up yet! A new year, a new journal, a new recipe! New things (especially blank pages) are full of possibilities. What I need to remember is that every DAY is a new beginning, too! How about you?

Spread out your fingers and
Make all things new
Change the world by the things you say
By the things you love
And by the games you play
And you make each new day
This is really beautiful, Opher. Thanks for sharing! ❤

I’m always excited at the prospect of starting something new… I’m all gung ho and ready to just go at it with high expectations….more times then not that
gung-ho-ness peeters out though 🤷🏻♀️

For me that’s like when I put the first WORD on a blank page!!! 😦

That is a truly optimistic way of looking at it. I honestly view new beginnings with trepidation these days. I think I focus too much on the challenges of the journey and not the rewards at the end.

Michelle! It is so good to see you! ❤ It's been a long time. How are you and your family?
I know exactly what you mean. I think it's so true that it isn't the destination that matters, but the journey, and we all know the journey can be soooo hard!

Boy do I hear THAT! Even with stuff I love today I find myself feeling like I have to do one more little chore before I can start. Why do I keep putting up roadblocks like that? Especially when it’s something creative and fun?

I’m giving affirmations a go this month, to see if they have an effect. ‘Today, I am [apparently] happy, healthy and full of vitality!’ I’ll let you know…

LOL! Julia, I LOVE your sense of humor! Please DO let me know how that is going. Seems like counselors, doctors, etc. are always urging folks to do more positive self-talk. But I’ve found my Inner Child calls me a fibber when I do that. (rolls eye…) Never been able to use that tool, though I know a lot of people who find it helpful. So GOOD LUCK, girlfriend! May the “words” be with you! 🙂

When starting something new, when facing a blank page, I do what anybody does … I find excuses to put off the inevitable … I find dishes to wash, a bathroom to clean, an email that must be answered, oooohhhh … is that a crumb on the floor? Do the kitties need to be fed? I should probably sweep the patio. And then, after all other options are exhausted, I sit down and write. 😉 Good to see you’re starting something new, my dear friend! Happy New Year!

I wonder if that means we always think we’re not quite adequate and are afraid to start something new. I’m surprised you feel that way, Jill. You’re such a prolific and knowledgeable writer! ❤

Why, thank you, dear friend! In my niche, I rarely have trouble getting started on a piece, but … I’ve been trying to write a book for years now, and always manage to find something else that “really must be done”! So, I write a political blog and have learned to be satisfied with that. 😉

It’s good to hear from you (and see your happy face in those pictures!), my friend. I’ve been wondering how you are doing over there. I know Raili doesn’t live near the fires, nor does my friend Kim (Perth), but where are you? Did you see the news story about the little Koala bear the lady rescued and took to the vet? She named him Lewis after one of her grandsons. I was suddenly SO attached to that little guy. I prayed and prayed he’d make, but he was too badly burnt. At least they were probably able to relieve his pain for the last little bit of his life. I don’t know why I got so emotional about it, but the plight of the Koala bears weighs heavy on me. I named my new blanket after him… I think of him every time I wrap up in it. Is that weird? I think my Inner Child needs a new stuffed animal to cuddle. (The last one I got years ago was the Coke Polar Bear. 🙂 )

Oh dear Calen, here in Geelong we are safe, although it’s been quite smokey. It’s been estimated by the scientist that the native losses of marsupials, reptiles and birds perished is a catastrophic…

It’s quite an awful feeling I get in my stomach when I look at a satellite picture and see how much of Australia is burning. This is all so unthinkable… (sigh)
