I’ve always loved Friedrich Nietzsche’s quote,
One must still have chaos in oneself
to be able to give birth to a dancing star.
I love the fancifulness of it. I get this vision of dancing around in the heavens, fairy dust trailing from my fingers as I draw this beautiful star that will shiver and dance with light. My mind can feel very chaotic at times, and this quote always puts a positive spin on my confusion rather than making me feel like an out-of-control wing nut!
So when someone on here is struggling with feeling that everything around them seems like total chaos, I give them this quote and suggest that maybe they’re getting ready to birth a star! And how bloomin’ cool is that??? 😀
Our wise and knowing resident Bard at Plato’s Groove said something to me in an email once about chaos and I copied into my quote book. He said,
Remember that perfection may not look perfect
and can emerge from what seems to be chaotic
if given room to breathe.
I keep both of those quotes stuffed close at hand in the back of my mind because I never know when I’m going to feel those birthing pains comin’ on! 😀

DAILY PROMPT: Quote Me
Do you have a favorite quote that you return to again and again? What is it, and why does it move you?

Beautiful quotes… I’ve added them to my quote book too! I must have birthed a million stars in my lifetime so far…. I am trying so hard to be more organized and less chaotic, but now I worry about all the would-be stars that I won’t be creating.. quite a conundrum!

One of my favorite quotes is, “Change happens on the edge of Chaos.” It’s from Jurassic Park: The Lost World – book or movie – can’t remember. Michael Crichton

Ah yes… Jeff Goldblum’s character! I loved his “wisdom.” Don’t know which it’s from either, as I also read the book.

I think Goldblum was my favorite character too. He’s been on my radar from way back!

I can feel the changes in your words. It is play. It is fun.

I feel they’re different today, too. I’m in a good space at the moment. I was telling Derek Lee about the cups I ordered. He said I should have had the one I designed with the dragonfly say Embrace Imperfecton. I tried to see if I could change it. They’d already shipped them. But I wish I would have done that. I thought about it after I placed the order that day. 🙂 Now THAT would have been play! 😀 Maybe I’m learning?

Thanks, Michelle. I really love working with quotes. It always interests me what quotes other people like. You can tell a lot about a person by the books they have on their shelves, the music they have on their “play lists”, and the quotes they like. Well, I fancy you can anyway. 🙂

I designed a cup for myself at Zazzle.com with a dragonfly on it. Over the dragonfly says Embrace, under it is Imperfection. Derek Lee over at THE FROTHY FILOSOFER said I should have misspelled Imperfection. I wish I had! https://frothyfilosofy.wordpress.com/
