There is so much food for thought in this quote I gained five pounds reading it!
The only choice we have as we mature is how we inhabit our vulnerability,
how we become larger and more courageous and more compassionate
through our intimacy with disappearance.

Something I had never thought about before. Worth pondering on, I think.

it’s good to remember – as the quote implies – that we are all vulnerable. We need to keep that in mind in all our interactions, both with ourselves and with others. What is your interpretation of ‘disappearance’?

That’s a very good question. A few things maybe. The way our memories begin to fade as we get older — even without something like Alzheimers. The way we lose the ability sometimes to care for ourselves. Or our ability to affect things in the world around us. Or ultimately our death. What’s you’re, Emma?

My thought process ran wild with this one – far too long for a comment. So I wrote a post instead as a form of reply, which you can find at https://emmaflemming.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=494&action=edit.

If one could make peace with those feelings, life might seem, hm…more in order? I suppose that’s a strange way to put it. Thanks for stopping by!
