doing the same old thing
and expecting different results
why do I tend to
give my power to others
who, like a bludgeon,
can crush my withered spirit
and brutally wound my heart

Don’t hold your breath, Deb… I haven’t figured it out in 65 years. 😦

So between us there is 128 years of trying to figure this out. Guess it’s safe to say screw it, huh? It just IS.

Hmm… one takes a heck of a risk, giving one’s power to another. I come at this idea from a gambler’s perspective. Sometimes there’s nothing more satisfying for me to do with money than to risk it. And when it pays off… oh man… so sweet… same maybe with the kind of power you’re discussing here. When one cedes another power and the other uses that power to lift one up… jackpot!

I’ll not deny it, Uttley. How many hands do you usually have to be dealt before you break even? 😉

I agree with Opher – it’s because of your humanity. Better a wounded, loving heart, than no heart at all. {{{Calen}}}

Unfortunately… But then the question was kind of rhetorical. 🙂
