It’s that time once more for Fimnora Westcaw’s Monday Music Medicine Show over at Quantum Hermit. Here’s this week’s challenge:
What is a song on your playlist which turns up when you count through to your age?
Well you may find this hard to believe, but I don’t have a play list! I don’t have anything even remotely LIKE a play list. So I thought and thought about what I could do. At last I decided (since I’m 64) to go to Billboard’s Top 100 songs of 1964 and find out what was at #1 on my birthday that year. Drum roll, please……. It was My Guy by Mary Wells.
And just for fun, you know how some of those oldies keep turning up in different incarnations over the years? Well this one had a very INTERESTING “incarnation” in a movie in 1992. The movie was Sister Act starring Whoopi Goldberg and Maggie Smith. And the song was reborn as My God…
I wonder if there are any other big hits out there that have been reborn in such an illustrious manner. If you know of one, let me know!

Hi Lady Calen, I took your suggestion about having a bunch of three-word affirmations and made a teeny, tiny little e-book on Amazon Kindle! I thanked you in a post on my blog. It was a hoot to put together, really just for fun. Thanks for always being an inspiration! 🙂 Ruth

I saw. I left you a comment. I already have it downloaded to my computer. 😀 I loved MOURNING INTO DANCING… I’m SO counting on that one! Thank you again, Ruth. I’m so blessed to have had any part in the booklet’s creation. It’s lovely. (Maybe you should think about a calendar! 😉 )

Oh, I didn’t want you to have to buy it after inspiring it, Lady Calen! Ack. I tried to set the price at three cents because it’s just a little breeze of a booklet, but they set the pricing to start at 2.99, so it had to be 3.33. You should look into e-books for your posts, with some of your favorite pix. I think you’d be great at this medium! Must sleep now! It’s after midnight here. Thanks for all the support and encouragement, dear heart! XO

Never heard of that. Must have been after 1975!

Great and creative way to bring your music to us all! I thought you had some CDs that you played in the car. Though they don’t hold too much, but if you had a few that you switched between, you could have used that as a play list 🙂
I LOVE My Guy, and I loved Class Act, both such fun songs!

I have 16 cds in a wallet, but the songs aren’t listed on them. I would have had to go find the cases. I didn’t have that much energy. 😦

No worries, you did a great work around 😀 But if you get some free time one day, you can go in and listen and make a word doc for the CDs, just so you’ll know what’s where. 🙂

You’re assuming, of course, that I’ll EVER have that much energy. 🙂

There is one song that for whatever reason has stayed with me through the years. The House of the Rising Sun. There are two version of the song. One, the slower one by the Animals and the rocked out version by Frijid Pink. I love them both depending on my mood. Groovy Man!

I love HotRS. It’s kind of one of those songs it’s hard to screw up. Like breakfast is hard to screw up no matter where you eat. I hadn’t heard that second version. Good job! {{{Colls}}}

That’s one of the earliest songs that got stuck in my memory. That and The Locomotion. Did you know that Carole King was one of the writers of that (TL) and that Little Eva (who sang it) was her kids’ babysitter?
