I have a small 5×7 spiral notebook I always keep by the computer for scribbling important things I need to check on later, blog ideas, definitions, you name it, it’s probably in there. When I finish one up, I check it to see if there’s anything I need to keep, transfer it to a new one, and recycle the old one (after making sure there’s nothing incriminating in it!) I also scribble poetry in it. Well, haiku and tanka.
So I switched to a new one today and in looking through it found a few poems I hadn’t done anything with. After all this time I don’t remember what was going through my head when I wrote them. But this was one of them…
hues
i’m not what you see;
my hues change day to day, but
my heart never does

you changed your header picture! Cool
This is really a nicely-done haiku. Are you writing a book of them?

Thanks, my fishy friend. 🙂 No, no plans to write a book. What about you? You gonna wait till you’re settled in somewhere permanent to start your travel memoirs? (See how nicely I brought that in. Giggle) (I miss my forest header. It will go back up soon. :D)

I thought this blog would help. But what I’m writing isn’t what I thought I would, and is not what my book will be about…so…???
And I confess…your forest header was awesome, no reason/need to change.

There is just something special to me about that picture. I feel like I could just go into the middle of it and walk down that path. I will put it back up soon. So you didn’t end up blogging about what you wanted to, eh? What DID you want to blog about? I’m curious.

I guess you don’t remember because your hues had changed since then. Glad this haiku resurfaced. It’s a keeper.

After I posted it I wondered if it were true. THEN I wondered if I didn’t post it because I didn’t know! I must have written that back in January…

That is a lovely ritual – to go back and read what your former self wrote.

Opher left a comment on a poem Anna Cottage did yesterday. (Her poem had started “Step lightly through the woods…) He said: Step lightly through life. Each moment is the first. I thought that as so profound…
